The 24 Hour Equipment Manager Conference

MiGCSA Equipment Manager Board Liaison Mitch Hunt, CTEM and the Equipment Managers Committee hosted the first 24-hour equipment managers conference, at Grand Traverse Resort in Traverse City Michigan. 

This event was a great opportunity for all members for education & networking. On day one Shane Conroy, GCSAA Great Lakes Field Staff presented on the GCSAA Certified Turf Equipment Manager (CTEM) program. He was followed by Mark Kuhns, CGCS from CTI on The Life of a Championship Green based on his many years of managing putting surfaces for major championships at Oakmont and Baltusrol.

At the conclusion of education attendees were invited to the sponsor reception. Special thanks to master of ceremonies Mike Meindertsma who lead the evening of great networking, incredible food & raffle prizes from our sponsors. Former EM Board Liaison Ben Beard received an award for his dedication to the advancement of Equipment Managers in Michigan. This was presented by Steven Hammon & Mitch Hunt with some surprise special guests, Ben's family. The unofficial part of the event then headed out to the restaurants, casino & sports bars.

Day two came with a spectacular sunrise full hot breakfast buffet and education on the 17th floor. Mike Rollins from SIP did a shortened version of his Reel Theory - Cut line is King presentation full of amazing details on reel set up and cut quality. The event closed with Trent Manning, CTEM who joined us from Georgia on How to grow your network and mental health.
