At the USGA Green Section, we welcome and appreciate customer feedback. So even though the USGA Moisture Meter has only been available for 4 months, we are already making improvements based on your suggestions. That’s why we have added the following:
Flashing moisture popup: For those that want to quickly take readings and visually see the results, moisture readings will now first flash large on the screen for two seconds before the pin appears on the map.
Clustering: Whether it’s drop or soil test, taking numerous readings close together on a green will will produce a “clustering of pins”, resulting in a single "black pin" displaying the average. This will make the map less crowded. To see individual pin results, you simply zoom in.
Moisture Maps (DEACON® Web): Moisture maps are now available on the DEACON desktop. View your soil test readings on a particular day or a custom date range. You can also compare up to three different test sessions to understand trends. Each map will have color coded pins (Blue = Too Wet, Green = In Target, and Red = Too Dry) based on the target ranges set in DEACON.
GPS Location Improvements: We learned that GPS location drift could move a soil test reading taken on the putting surface boundary edge into another surface (Example: approach or fairway). The update allows for a 10-yard buffer zone that will ensure all your tests stay on the intended surface. The first test must be successfully recorded on the selected surface for the buffer to work.

“I was adamant that I needed consistency from meter to meter. With the USGA Moisture Meter, we’ve seen much better consistency from unit to unit, and it's just helped us be more secure with the data that we're collecting on a daily basis.”
